Have you ever experienced the powerful presence of the Holy Spirit? A presence more real and lasting than manufactured excitement? In our world, there are a lot of voices speaking all manner of spiritual talk, but there is only one voice that speaks transcendent, eternal truth; His. Consider what Peter wrote concerning the prophetic word:

“For prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.”

– 1 Peter 1:21 NKJV

Perhaps today there are many voices in your head (from various sources) giving spiritual advice; consider a simple return to the scripture. God never violates or contradicts His word, so it’s always the best place to be. Besides, without the Holy Spirit’s leading and involvement; it’s just activity with little or no power anyway. Don’t seek the things about Him; seek Him…seek His word…and be moved.

It Happened on a Friday…

Thinking back on this today…

I love Fridays. They’re usually days filled with a sense of accomplishment and anticipation of good things ahead…but not so last week…

On Friday, our nation was shocked by the news of a heinous act in Newtown, Ct. at Sandy Hook Elementary School. The natural question is “Why would someone do such a thing?” It was the question I found myself pondering after hearing the news. We’re now hearing some of the back story of the shooter, which sheds a little light, but still not enough to really understand what caused it. As I thought and prayed for the families there, I was suddenly reminded of where I was the previous Friday and how I had asked the very same question then too…
