Who sets the boundaries of your steps?
Along the path of life there are many speaking their own version of truth, including various offers to “taste-test” savory concessions as you pass by. One of the common calls from the shadows is the phrase, “Follow your heart.” On the surface, those words may sound right, but for a follower of Christ, the qualifying question should be, “Does it match the desires of God’s heart?” Consider the counsel of a wise and experienced man:
“For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly; He guards the paths of justice, and preserves the way of His saints.” – Proverbs 2:6-8 NKJV
Today there could be an opportunity to speak a word of instruction; may the counsel come from His knowledge. An opportunity to share an opinion could present itself; may it be rooted in His wisdom. New invitations could appear around the corner; may His Word be the standard for comparing the options. And sometimes, those conversations happen only within our own mind, as we try to decide a next step. Who will set the boundaries of your path today?
