Wisdom 25.28

“Whoever has no rule over his own spirit is like a city broken down, without walls.” – Proverbs 25:28 NKJV

Self-control is a fruit of the Spirit for many reasons; one of which is our own benefit.

Wisdom 13.20

“He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.” – Proverbs 13:20 NIV

Over time, peers can influence our values, hopes, and dreams. The ideas and suggestions most often discussed around us will eventually affect choices, and the consequences that follow. So, when it comes to friends and mentors – choose wisely.

Wisdom 10.28

“The hope of the righteous will be gladness, but the expectation of the wicked will perish.” – Proverbs 10:28 NKJV

Serenity is woven with the thread of hope, and a believer has reason to expect better things in the future. Additionally, hope connected to the things of God produces an unshakable joy; but hope connected to this world can only be temporary…at best. May there be real hope in your heart today.

Wisdom 5.21

“For the ways of a man are before the eyes of the Lord, and He watches all his paths.” – Proverbs 5:21 NASB

There is no secret life before the Lord. All we do is open to His view, and there’s no need to fret when people appear to “get away” with wickedness. Thankfully, His instructions are available, but we must read them. The Holy Spirit will guide, but we must follow. And along with those two wonderful truths, He also offers forgiveness, but we must confess. What will be “your way” today?

Wisdom 4.23

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” – Proverbs 4:23 NIV

The enemy is always scattering seeds of doubt, fear, anger, lust, jealousy (and other things) that aren’t of the Lord. The battle to keep a heart healthy is a daily struggle; and the Lord is the only one who can renew it. “Above all else, guard your heart…”

Wisdom 3.19

“The Lord by wisdom founded the earth; by understanding He established the heavens; by His knowledge the depths were broken up, and clouds drop down the dew. My son, let them not depart from your eyes-keep sound wisdom and discretion; so they will be life to your soul and grace to your neck. Then you will walk safely in your way, and your foot will not stumble.” – Proverbs 3:19-23 NKJV

The Lord reveals His wisdom by the created order around us. For example, the miracle of life, the beauty of a sunset, the flight of a hummingbird, the majesty of mountain peaks, and the graceful lines of a flower all speak of His divine genius.

His work can be seen every day, for the eye that’s looking. “My son, let them not depart from your eyes…”

Wisdom 3.5

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” – Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV

Is your confidence built exclusively on the Lord, or a mixture of Him with other sources? For example, it’s very tempting to rely on past experience or other people to “firm up” the weak corners of our life when the hand of God isn’t clearly visible. But the scripture teaches a reliance; a proactive clearing away of worldly debris to verify that our feet are standing firmly on the foundation of Christ and His truth. “Trust in the Lord…”
